What Galvalume means?
Galvalume is one of the most popular roofing materials on the market today and is a type of steel roof coating made from aluminum, zinc, and silicon. Aluminum makes up more than 50% of the coating, making it more resistant to corrosion.
Is Galvalume heat resistant?
Galvalume has barrier corrosion resistance and heat resistance similar to aluminized material and good bare edge galvanic protection and forming qualities like galvanized material. Consequently, Galvalume and Galvalume Plus will resist rust, the elements and fire while providing a sturdy and protective covering.
What is Galvalume process?
Galvalume is a coating consisting of zinc, aluminum and silicon that is used to protect a metal (primarily steel) from oxidation. It is similar to galvanizing in that it is a sacrificial metal coating which protects the base metal.
Why Galvalume is better than galvanized?
The composition using these 3 elements in a Galvalume coat is 50% of aluminum, and less than 50% zinc, with a very low amount of silicon. Galvanizing is 100% zinc. It is less enhanced in comparison to the Galvalume ability of protection. It has comparatively low performance when exposed to water and also less durable.
